After School Program

All policies apply to the children involved in the After School Program at St. Luke Early Learning Center just as for the children in the Preschool Program. There is space available for occasional care in the After School Program.

Program Goals for the After School Program

To provide a loving and relaxed environment where children's physical, spiritual and emotional needs are met.

To establish an atmosphere of respect for others and self.

To establish respect for the environment and materials.

To help the children develop self-control and a clear understanding of the expectation in their environment.

To provide a routine that allows for the kind of activities that the children might be involved with if they were at home.

To provide an environment where the children will develop an enthusiasm for learning, exploring, and creativity through the use of constructive play activities in the areas of: art, drama, literature, cooking, music and movement, social science, woodworking, large motor development, science, manipulative activities, and field trips.

To provide ample opportunity to develop coordination and large motor skills through physically active and outdoor play.

To establish awareness among staff to insure that a safe environment is always present both indoors and out.

To be supportive of parents encouraging involvement, encouraging open and honest communication while using tact and discretion.

To develop staff potential through proper supervision by making expectations clear, following through to see that expectations are met, and utilizing staff input and their abilities.

To provide an opportunity to become independent and responsible through self directed and individualized activities.

To provide the children with appropriate alternatives to angry and aggressive behavior.

To learn how to participate and function well in a group.

Transportation - The children will be transported in vans from their school to St. Luke Early Learning Center. When the parent is picking the child up from school, the Center and school must be notified in advance. There is a $5.00 charge each time you fail to notify the Center.

Snacks, Breakfast and Lunch - Snacks will be provided after school on school days and breakfast, hot lunches, and snacks will be provided during school holidays.
