Forms and Information:
The
links on the right side of this page contain information for
you including some guidance on the current situation with
the flu bug that is affecting many children and adults in
our area. Please read this information very carefully and
study the ways you can help us keep illness of children and
staff to a minimum. We have studied the current
recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention and attended a meeting with the West Central
Health District Epidemiologist. The information below as
well as in the attachments should answer some of your
questions.
Please
note that in the St. Luke
letter we indicate fever of over 100 degrees as criteria for
exclusion, and this is a change in our currently posted
fever policy. In addition,
we will be adding a form entitled “Influenza Return to
School Form” that parents should fill out when their child
returns to school after flu like symptoms have caused them
to be absent. The reason for this form is that we are NOT
recommending, nor are we requiring, that parents take
students to the doctor with flu symptoms if they are
otherwise healthy. This form allows us to verify that the
parent has monitored that they have not had a fever or
symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Thanks
for your cooperation in our efforts to maintain a healthy
atmosphere for our children. Health care experts are
currently telling us that there will likely be peaks and
valleys in the number of cases. We are also being told that
the good news is that this flu strand does not typically
cause a severe health issue for otherwise healthy
individuals. We will be adding a link on our school website
to keep you posted of any new developments of which we are
made aware on the flu in our area and will alert you by mass
email when updates are posted.
